Position Description:

Title: Worship Team Leader

Position Summary:

We’re hiring a Contemporary Worship Team Leader who can shepherd, organize, practice and lead worship during a Sunday morning service.  In conjunction with the pastor, you would choose music and practice with fellow musicians during the week in order to lead the congregation in a worshipful service.  We would expect you to lead the musicians in devotions as a relationship with Jesus Christ is first and foremost.

Qualifications, skills, and gifts

• A heartfelt love for worship! A vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus, and a personal witness to his transformative grace in your life.
• Comfortable up front in worship leadership
• Knowledgeable of new and old praise and worship songs
• Proficient in keyboards and/or guitar

Expectations

• Maintain God-ordained priorities in life: Jesus Christ first, spouse and children (if applicable) second, and ministry third.
• Meet with pastor and staff for planning and enrichment
• Support other church staff, leaders and volunteers.
• Commit to the vision, values and beliefs of the church body.
• Pass all Safe Sanctuary-required clearances.
• If you feel you need more musical preparation than average weekly hours allow, be willing to put in the practice time that your skills require.
• An initial performance evaluation will be given within the first two months of employment. Thereafter, there will be an annual performance evaluation.

Compensation

10-12 hours per week starting at $25 an hour

• Funerals and Weddings – Paid directly by the bridal couple or estate of the deceased according to established rates.
• If interested, Worship Director may also use church facility to provide private music lessons.

Description of Duties

• Pour into your Worship Team. Have a 10 minute devotional/prayer time with members of the Worship Team at practice
• Sundays: warm up with Worship Team before the service, lead the congregation.
• If keyboarding (piano and/or organ) is an additional skill, we would discuss compensation for playing in  the traditional worship service
• Meet with staff as necessary for planning purposes
• Special Worship Events – Be available for weddings, funerals, and other services such as: Advent evening service, Christmas Eve, Lenten evening service, Holy Week evening services, Easter Choir Cantata (Palm Sunday).
